PITTSBURGH, PA — Treasure House Fashions, a nonprofit boutique serving women on challenging journeys throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area, has launched its Heart Campaign, a community-driven initiative designed to expand access, deepen impact, and secure the organization’s ability to serve women for generations to come.
Celebrating 25 years of service, Treasure House Fashions has become a trusted resource for women experiencing transition, crisis, and suburban poverty — offering more than clothing, but dignity, confidence, and hope at a critical moment in their lives.
“Clothing is the means, not the mission,” said Sally Power, Executive Director of Treasure House Fashions. “Our heart is to affirm the worth of women on challenging journeys. Clothing is simply a very tangible way to do that.”
Treasure House Fashions partners with over 60 agencies throughout Allegheny County and directly serves women experiencing suburban poverty — a growing and often invisible crisis. According to a University of Pittsburgh policy brief (Beyond the Urban Core), 61% of poverty in Allegheny County exists outside the city, where women may be one paycheck away from financial disaster yet feel isolated by shame because their struggles are less visible.
“These women often don’t ‘look’ like they’re in crisis,” the organization shared. “But they are navigating impossible choices — and they deserve to be met with compassion, dignity, and tangible support,” said Power.
For the past eight years, Treasure House Fashions has given away approximately $500,000 worth of clothing annually, totaling more than $4 million — calculated at discounted resale value, not retail pricing. Each piece of clothing represents more than fabric; it represents restored confidence, reduced anxiety, and the reassurance that a woman belongs in the room.
“How you look to yourself — and how you are seen by others — matters,” said a spokesperson. “While outward appearance doesn’t define worth, it can affirm the treasure a woman already is,” said Power.
Women served by Treasure House frequently report renewed confidence as they prepare for job interviews, court appearances, housing transitions, or simply the challenge of starting over.
The Heart Campaign is a critical investment in the future of Treasure House Fashions and the women it serves. Donations will help the organization:
“This is a big mission, and it requires bold generosity,” Power said. “Donations to the Heart Campaign are legacy gifts that allow us to do more, reach more women, and remove barriers that stand between women and stability.”
At the heart of Treasure House Fashions’ work is a belief that when women are supported, entire families and communities benefit.
“Women are the heart of the home and the heart of the community,” said Power. “When you take care of women, everyone benefits.”
Through the Heart Campaign, Treasure House Fashions invites donors to become active partners in restoring dignity, rebuilding confidence, and creating pathways forward — one woman at a time.
“We believe in the magic of retail therapy that offers not only clothing, but hope and encouragement for a better tomorrow,” the organization shared. “Join us for a little magic… one shopping spree at a time,” said Power.
