One of our volunteers came to the office where I was working on the next steps for our grant.
“One of the gals from POWER [a partner agency that works with women in early addiction recovery] is insisting that she talk with you. Can you come out for a few minutes?”
“Sure!” I responded, and I went into the showroom. I was immediately greeted by a young woman who was obviously excited.
“I had to meet you. How do you do this? Really, how do you do this?” She was overwhelmed with the selection and quality of merchandise and couldn’t contain her amazement at the generosity we offered.
“It takes a village,” I reminded her, but she continued to express her enthusiasm and gratitude.
I walked over to the register, and Elsie, one of our steadfast volunteers, was holding back tears.
“She hasn’t stopped marveling at our store since she walked in, and she had to talk with you. It just really touched my heart,” Elsie explained, wiping her eyes.
“I guess we take for granted what we offer. Sometimes it takes a new person with fresh eyes for us to recognize the magic of our mission,” I reflected.
The gals continued to shop together, delighted with their special treasures, and that one young woman continued to “ooo” and “ahhh” at what Treasure House Fashions generously provided.
