Being a Single Mom is hard work! It’s a 24/7 job! Anyone who’s been in that situation (like me!) knows it’s not for the weak of heart!
Young Lives in Penn Hills received a financial gift to bless the single moms in their program. They knew about THF and thought this would be the ideal place to touch the lives of these young moms. Women from a neighboring church provided transportation, added to the finances, and volunteered as “personal shoppers.” These precious ladies deserved extra one-on-one attention!
When they arrived at THF, the first thing the moms asked about was clothes for their kids!
“NO KID’S CLOTHES IN OUR HOUSE! If momma has a choice between herself and her kids, you know what she chooses! This is a place for you to get things for YOU!”
It took a shift in mindset – then these gals delighted in selecting fashions, trying on clothes, and modeling for all of us! Over and over, they commented that they didn’t realize how much they needed “me time”!
When shopping was finished, we all retired to the mezzanine for pizza, salad, cookies, and a talk from Sally on WORTH! These gals soaked it all in and left with fashions they loved and inspiration for their future!
