Just Want You to Know…

I couldn’t pick just one story – here are 2!!

FIRST, ladies from Light of Life needed to select elegant dresses for a special event called Extravagant Love Fest…to affirm their WORTH! The Light of Life ladies came to Treasure House excited to “shop” for fancy outfits for this celebration! Our volunteer Elsie was delighted to assist, and she had the best time watching these gals strut their stuff as they selected beautiful cocktail dresses, earrings, necklaces, and shoes for their upcoming event! Their confidence and joy blossomed as they knew they looked fabulous! The giggles, the smiles, the sassy attitudes of “looking good” brought joy to all of us! We wanna see pictures, ladies!!

SECOND, did you hear about the 6-alarm fire at Chapel Hill apartment complex in Ross Township? The loss was devastating and THF posted on Facebook, Next Door and word-of-mouth that we will provide FREE clothing for women affected by the fire (sorry – no children or men’s clothing!).

Here are a couple stories of women who came to our House:

• “Becca” was married 3 weeks prior and their wedding reception was scheduled 2 days after the fire! She and her new hubby are moving in with Pap – who has more room! “I don’t even want to go to our reception (we assured her it will be fine and there’s much to celebrate – their both alive and together). I just need something comfy to relax in! I’m so overwhelmed that I don’t know what to do next! Thank you!”
• “Julie” had brain surgery in August and her husband is in a nursing home. They owned their unit but lost everything. “I’m so grateful to come here and shop – thank you so much!” She told everyone in Eat’n’Park about shopping at THF!
• “Anne” was scheduled for a job interview and lost everything. “we were allowed in the unit to salvage a few things but it all smells like smoke! Thank you so much that I can get clothes here so I can go to my interview!”

We will continue to give gift certificates for free clothing to fire victims! They’re also available through North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO) – one of our partner agencies! If you know a woman affected, please encourage her to come to THF! There’s no deadline – we’re here for her as a long-term resource!!
