Just Want You to Know…
Clothing shapes first impressions…and it also carries stories. Sometimes, clothing becomes a repository of honor and respect for someone deeply loved and deeply missed.
Just last week, a father walked through our doors carrying clothing that had belonged to his daughter, Siena Bott. Siena died six years ago after taking what she believed was a pill to help quiet her mind. It contained fentanyl, and it took her life.
For six years, her parents could not bring themselves to touch anything in her room, including her clothing. Now they are downsizing – and it’s time to release her things.
As they prepared to donate her belongings, Siena’s mother shared something that deeply touched us: “We wanted Siena’s clothing to go somewhere meaningful. Treasure House was the only place we considered. We love what you do, and Siena would have loved this place.”
As her father shared their story, he spoke of the early days after Siena’s death and his resistance to publicly sharing her story. His wife wanted to start a foundation called Stop the Judgment Project. His response was understandable: “How can I talk about her? How can I face teenagers who may be in the same state of mind?”
Her answer changed everything.
“How can we not? If we save one life, it’s worth it.”
Today, they have spoken to more than 6,000 students. They tell the story of a beautiful young woman who struggled with bipolar and personality disorder, who sought relief from emotional pain, and who lost her life because of a single counterfeit fentanyl pill.
The students listen intently. The question-and-answer sessions often last forty-five minutes. And after everyone else has left the auditorium, often a few students remain behind to ask deeply personal, probing questions about their own struggles, fears, and mental health challenges.
Siena’s father admitted that despite his initial resistance, the process of sharing his daughter’s story has become personally healing. What began as an act of courage for the benefit of others has also helped bring purpose and meaning to unimaginable loss.
Siena’s clothing now hangs at Treasure House Fashions, ready to begin another chapter of service. What was once impossible for her family to part with has become a gift that will bless women in need.
Every garment we receive carries a story. Some celebrate new beginnings. Some mark difficult endings. Some represent milestones, triumphs, heartbreaks, and cherished memories. Every day, Treasure House Fashions has the privilege of helping transform those stories into hope.
First impressions may be formed in seven seconds; the impact of compassion can last a lifetime. And sometimes, a dress, a sweater, or a pair of shoes becomes more than clothing—it becomes a legacy of love, healing, and hope for someone else.
That’s what YOU make happen at our House! We just want you to know…
Legacy of LOVE!
