One of our newer volunteers came to the office with a question:
“This gal has a gift certificate, but she’s one dollar over. What do I do?”
“I’ll come to the register,” I offered, but Tracy beat me to it!
The woman was older and had presented her plea with earnestness; she needed help, and the gift certificate was very old – probably from 8-10 years ago. The newer printed version clarifies that it expires after one year – we want them to be used!
Of course, we extended the gift certificate to cover what she was getting – and more. We thanked her for coming and invited her to stop in again soon. We wanted her to feel welcome and valued.
Did you know that one of the growing demographics of people financially struggling is women over the age of 60? We have several “regulars” who come to Treasure House not only for the bargains but also for the camaraderie – we are a safe haven! Financial struggles are real… and so is loneliness!
We want you to know we are always a place for you to come—a boost to your budget, a chuckle from our antics, and a home away from home…any time! You are welcome at our House any time!
